The MoD understands the need to get the “right information to the right people at the right time”, however information management practices need to be dramatically improved, the National Archives has said in a report.

Last year a coroner launched an attack on the MoD for its poor record keeping following the lack of existing documents on requests for Explosive Suppressant Foam (ESF) in the C-130 fleet. It was alleged that such requests had existed since 2002 but the MoD had largely ignored them due in part to poor record keeping on written orders and requests.
